This concept was inspired by an article that discussed how ghostly appearances have changed over time. Most noticeably, how a late 'ghost hour' is not necessary for sightings: they are among us no matter the hour. This scene specifically deals with the modern 'hitchhiking ghost:' a ghost that at first, is not distinguishable from the living and that simply wants to go home. I was drawn to these poignant stories that mix kind strangers willing to give lifts, with lost ghosts that had often perished in tragic ways.
