Phoebe Rothfeld is an illustrator and designer who grew up on a diet of books filled with whimsy and magic and darkness and hope. She works across a wide range of mediums that includes ink, watercolor, gouache, and digital. Despite the variance in medium, the projects she embarks on all come from the same desire to inspire imagination, empathy, and openness through visual stories.

Very early on she found joy in drawing from life and as a way to illustrate narratives, bringing to it a sense of seriousness, a devotion to detail and all things miniature, and an intense love for fantasy narratives. She earned her BA in Art and Theater Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz and delighted in combining the critical analysis of scripts with drawing and painting.

Phoebe received her MFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She is currently writing and illustrating her own stories that are slightly dark, slightly fantastical, and entirely hopeful.
